Roaring,
Gushing,
The constant sound of a waterfall in the distance,
Hidden by the forest splendor.
Secret source of nourishment
Plants growing,
Animals drinking,
Fish swimming,
Trees drawing in life through their roots,
Birds bathing
Insects buzzing.
I walk, searching, seeking
The source of the quiet roaring
Knowing I will find the physical
And the spiritual.
Through forest sanctuary
Rich aromas of trees,
Sweet scent of flowers,
Earthy essence of the rich, forest loam.
Light muted by the tall canopy,
Glittering spots of sunlight, filtered through the green,
Quick, quiet movements of birds,
and secretive animals,
rustling in the fern and ground cover,
flashes of color,
bright flower patches,
almost missed.
Discovery.
Birds chirp and twitter in harmony with the
Secret waterfall cascade,
Search rewarded, indeed,
My soul drinks in the delicious aroma of the water,
Just as the forest life quenches its thirst at the water’s edge.
My Living Water
Quenches my soul-thirst as
Water quenches my physical thirst.
His Love nourishes me as the forest
Cataract
Nourishes the life that comes to its banks.
“Oh! Satisfy us early with your Mercy,
that we may rejoice and be glad all our days!”
“As the deer pants for the water brooks,
so pants my soul for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God…”
“…Jesus stood and cried out, saying,
‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink…’”
My God, my Husband
Let me drink from You.
Satisfy me,
And let me lead others to your soul-quenching
Living Water.
