Discovery is an amazing thing. When I think of the things I have discovered about myself, I realize that each of these discoveries have brought me a little closer to becoming who God intends me to be: a person who walks confidently (not arrogantly) through life. Recently I've been learning to mix textures with photography often bringing about startling, almost mystical results and through this I've learned something about art and artists. An artist is someone who creates an image or a work of some kind, is pleased with it and wants to share it. An artist is not someone who creates for the pleasure of others, but who wants to share what he or she has created that the artist is pleased with. On the surface this sounds selfish and not Christlike at all, but I don't think it's selfish. If it was selfish, that artist would not share with others. I think, at least in my case, I want to share what I've created because I want to say, "Here's something the Lord has given me and I want to share it with you."
So, please enjoy these photographs I've textured, and don't forget to use the arrows at the bottom of the photographs to scroll through.

I'm still practicing with learning the grunge technique. In most cases one can tell which are the originals. I've not quite achieved the goal I'm looking for in this technique, but the funny thing is I keep seeing potential photographs I could grunge. Experimentation and not being afraid to explore is always a benefit in Photoshop. Last night I saw an old clock in a movie and thought, "that would be a great photo to grunge." this morning I saw a Redi Wip can. Yes, I am weird. I love it.
Grunge
Yesterday I learned a new CS6 Photoshop technique. The website below is a great example of some grunge photography. I have done some of my own photographs as well and a slide show tutorial as well as this text tutorial.

1. Go on the internet to http://www.cgtextures.com/, sign up for membership (it’s free) and then choose several textures. I chose the categories Medieval Flooring and Marble for some of my textures. I encourage you to explore this excellent resource. Save to a folder in your computer.
2. Open Adobe CS6 and choose the photo you want to grunge.
3. Make a second layer.
4. Go to Filter Gallery/Graphic Pen
5. Your photo should look like this
6. Go to File/Place
7. Choose texture photo for first grunge effect
8. Stretch texture photo over entire photo you are grunging
9. Reduce the opacity; experiment with different opacity reduction percentages.
10. You want to see the photo you’re grunging, not the texture photo
11. Try different things; try not reducing the opacity and experiment experiment experiment!
If you have any questions, feel free to send a message to me via this website and I will answer whatever questions you have.
Have fun seeing grunge!
