When I arose and walked to my desk, looking out my window on the beautiful new day, I was instantly struck with the Kevin Frye feelings I often experience. Those of you who know me might understand what I’m talking about, but for those of you who don’t know my history, I will give a brief explanation:
In 2009 a group of us filmed an indie film based on a story I wrote called The Death of Kevin Frye. So, for me, a Kevin Frye morning is actually a feeling. It’s reminiscent of the feelings I had on the days we were going to shoot, feelings of eager anticipation and joy in working on this project that was my first experience in the hand of God working what is impossible for me to reach.
The sharp feelings of eager anticipation were also conceived by the realization several days ago that all that started when I stepped out in faith and took my story to Fritz Green to look over to see if he’d be interested in filming the movie. As it turned out, the Lord had someone else in mind, but the timing wasn’t exact. The Lord also knew I needed to be obedient in something concerning this story I’d been long feeling would make a great movie.
In course of time, after giving Fritz the story, I met Renee. Eventually the Lord spoke to her and we filmed the movie.
So, now as I stand on the threshold of 2014, having left 2013 behind, I am excited to be believing God for another impossibility, this one more distant and unreachable than filming The Death of Kevin Frye. This one is so dependent on the Lord that my task at this point is to wait.
And wait I will.
But I am waiting with the hope of Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”
So today in this January 1, 2014 I again stand on the promises God has given me:
“My heart has heard You say, ‘Come talk with me,’ and my heart responds, ‘Lord, I’m coming.’” Psalm 27:8
The Passionate Commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen.” Isaiah 9:7
“I thank you for answering my prayer and giving me the victory.” Psalm 118:24
“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14
“You will be rewarded for this; your hope will not be disappointed.” Proverbs 23:18
“But the people who know their God will be strong and carry out great exploits.” Daniel 11:32b
“The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenants and obey his demands.” Psalm 25:10
“What he opens no one can shut and what he shuts no one can open.” Revelation 3:7
This morning I prayed a prayer of thankfulness, and as a gift to me, the Lord added another verse via my cousin Melissa’s post on FaceBook:
“Your hand will guide me. Your right hand will hold me fast.” Psalm 139:10b
And so I step into 2014 believing more than ever that the Lord has amazing plans for John and me and for the people he calls to be part of Ebenezer Productions.
Thank you Father for a renewal of this vision. In Jesus Name, Amen.
