For instance: Me. Knowing my personality as well as I do, I think if I was God (heaven and earth be praised I am not), I wouldn’t call me to begin a company that makes Christian movies. I would call someone who was already in the business to change gears and do the task I ask of him or her.
But where would the miracle be in that?
Let’s take someone else more well known that me.
Let’s take Joseph, the husband of Mary and the earthly father of Jesus.
Of all the people in the world, why would the Lord God choose Joseph, a man of unknown history, to be the example and the family leader as Jesus grew up?
Unfortunately we don’t know much about Joseph, but I bet the only thing that qualified him in God’s eyes was his willingness to be obedient. When God reassured him, he didn’t question God about marrying his wife, who just told him she was pregnant by the Holy Spirit. What would you think? He didn’t think, “I must not have heard the Lord right.” No. The Bible says he married his wife.
When the angel told him to leave and go to Egypt because Herod was going to try to kill baby Jesus, he got up and they left.
And when the angel told Joseph to return, they returned.
God doesn’t necessarily call those who are qualified to do a job, God calls those willing to obey.
What is God calling you to do today?
