Last night my husband and I watched a documentary that asked the question many of us have wondered: is there life… intelligent or otherwise…on other planets? Both my husband and I knew this scientific documentary would touch on evolution, so we weren’t surprised when it came.
In the documentary another question was asked: If life all comes from the same source (primordial soup), why did so many different species evolve?
Well, it may seem simplistic, but the answer isn’t that life evolved. The answer is that God, the Almighty, created each organism to function as it does in the environment it does. I don’t mind being considered simplistic. Especially when the answer is simple God created all things the way we see them now. Let’s face it, sometimes the answer is simple. There’s no point in making this more difficult than it needs to be.
God is the author of all life, from the tiniest microorganisms that some whales feed on, to the highest of all creation: man. And in everything there is such infinite detail that even up close with a powerful microscope we only have an imperfect glimpse of this awesome universe that God created.
And the thing that is so exciting about God creating everything in infinite detail is that he loves us and cares for every detail of our lives. Think of it: Every detail. Lost keys? God cares? Dying parent? God cares. Stubbed toe? God cares. Lost child? God cares.
Psalm 37:23 tells us that God cares about every detail, and Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:45 that God sends rain on the just and unjust alike.
So the next time you’re feeling discouraged, take a close look at a flower. Notice all the detail and remember, just as God created that flower with all its detail, so he loves you with the same care for that detail. Tell him how you feel, watch to see how he shows you he is near.
