Psalm 27:14 Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes. Wait patiently for the Lord.
For most of my life I’ve been afraid of what others might think and sometimes that has leached out in my telling people that I’m a Christian. Yes, I’m a bit of a coward. I think the Lord wants me to be brave and courageous and tell people about what I believe.
And isn’t it just like Him to remind me like He reminded Joshua before the battle of Jericho? In the book named for that great leader of Israel, God says
“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:6-9
I haven’t actually counted, but it is said that the Bible contains the phrase, “Do not be afraid” 365 times; one time for each day of the year.
And I believe it.
This morning, as I prayed around the church, I asked the Lord to glorify His name so much in this that people who are scoffers would be so surprised at what He does in the life of John and me that their knee-jerk reaction is, “Wow. God is the only One who could do that!”
And so, I feel the Lord is telling me to talk about Ebenezer Films to everyone who will listen. And when I run across a scoffer (and we all know there will be scoffers), He’s telling me be brave and courageous.
Lord, brave and courageous I will be. Thank you for the opportunity to look crazy. I am crazy: I’m crazy like a Christian.
”You will be rewarded for this; your hope will not be disappointed.” Proverbs 23:18
Psalm 118:21 I thank you for answering my prayer and giving me victory!
Psalm 25:10 The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenants and obey his demands.
Psalm 27:8 “My heart has heard You say, “Come talk with Me,” and my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
