Not only have we struggled with the processing of it, but we've also come face to face with the upcoming financial challenge we face.
At the advice of John's sister-in-law, Patti Hambrick, we filled out the paper work to get help from the organization called Catholic Charities. John and I filled out the forms and got the information they required together and sent the packets out to both St. John's Hospital and Jane Phillips, which is also owned and run by St. John's out of Tulsa. As I put both packets in the mail, I had a sense of peace given to me about it and did not worry about whether they were going to help us or not.
Friday we got a letter telling us that our bill has been 100% written off!
That's what I said:
100% written off!!
On top of that, Sunday we were given a substantial gift from a person in our church who felt led to give this gift to us to help us with our bills.
1 Samuel 7:12: Thus far the Lord has helped.
This seems like an incomplete sentence; doesn't it? But what more can be said? In every way, the Lord has provided and helped us. No. It's not an incomplete sentence. It's an eternal statement. I will say it today. I will say it at the end of the day tomorrow and the next day and the next and the next. This is a statement that is like our universe. It continues to expand.
Ephesians 3:20: Now all glory to God, who is able through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Did you catch that? "Infinitely more than we might ask or think." Does God have limitations? Have scientists found the ultimate smallest particle in existence?
"No" is the answer to both those questions.
Psalm 139:10b Your hand will guide me. Your right hand will hold me fast."
This reminds me that the Lord will guide me and John, Charyl and Dennis in all we need to learn and do. Today I watched the documentary about how Citizen Kane was filmed. At 18:35 minutes Orson Welles tells an interviewer that Gregg Toland told him that he could teach Welles all he needed to know about directing a film in three hours.
If Toland could teach Welles all he needed to know about directing a film in three hours, couldn't the ultimate teacher, the Lord Almighty Himself, teach me? It's not about me. It's about the Lord my God, who teaches me!
Psalm 18:28-30 For you are my Lamp O Lord; the Lord shall enlighten my darkness. For by you I can run against a troop; by my God I can leap over a wall. As for God his way is perfect; the Word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust Him.
Kind David, Israel's greatest king, said that because his God helps him, he could leap over a wall. Let's make something perfectly clear: David wasn't talking about a three foot garden wall.
This is what he was talking about.
And that can be said for EVERYTHING in God's Word. There are no mistakes, there are no inaccuracies. People can argue this until they're blue and I'll never buy into it.
No, God is the One True God who provides for us and gives us blessings that sometimes don't look like blessings, but are more than we can imagine. This seizure is not a curse, it is a blessing. Yes. I wrote it. I am blessed because the Lord saw fit to send me a seizure. And know what else? I used to have a lot of pain in my shoulders, neck, arms and wrists and my shoulder wouldn't respond when I tried to reach over my head.
I can reach as high and as far as I ever could now. I believe the Lord touched me and healed me of that pain.
As a result, I am becoming bolder in talking about the Lord and what he's doing in our lives. I am becoming…
